When the Municipalities of Mont-Tremblant, Lac-Tremblant-Nord, Labelle and La Conception were formed, many of the waterfronts properties the lakes in the Lac Tremblant region were carved out of the crown's landholdings and sold to private owners who wished to build country residences on waterfronts in the wilderness. Serendipitously, the crown retained ownership of many of the seven summits surrounding Lac Tremblant, namely: -La Montagne Tremblante (Mont Tremblant), which became part of the the national park - Le Nez de l'Indien - La Montagne Verte - Mont La Tuque - La Montagne du Caribou / Cap 360 - La Montagne du Gorille - Les Portes de l'Enfer In addition, several very large privately-owned lots adjacent to these seven summits were, and are still today, largely untouched. The wilderness sections of these privately-owned properties are excellent candidates for permanent conservation through Conservation Éco-corridor Tremblant. As an example, the land areas in white on the schematic show the potential for wilderness conservation if all of the Municipality of Lac-Tremblant-Nord's public and private hinterland wilderness was to be formally conserved as an ecologically important reserve. There are equally important opportunities with privately-owned wilderness lands in Mont-Tremblant, La Conception and Labelle. Bringing this to reality is our vision.
